Department of Civil Engineering

This is a well established program designed to integrate civil construction, roadways and highways so that diploma holders can take up various positions in the rapidly expanding field of Civil Engineering.

Course Assessment

Student performance are assessed through internal assessments, activity and assignment reports, seminars & lab records. The final diploma award is based on both Continuous Internal Evaluation and Semesters End Examinations. The students in the final year has undergo Internship Training or carryout Project Work considering live problems of the industry and is assessed by Practical Examination at the end of sixth semester.

Awarding Certificate

Department of Collegiate and Technical Education, Government of Karnataka will award the final diploma certificate for the students who completes their Diploma Course successfully.

Course Duration

The course is of three years (six semesters) and the students should attend the course full time.

Career Opportunities

After completion of their diploma, they can choose their career opportunities in construction and building industries as site supervisors and Managerial posts in public/private/government agencies or they can open their own consultancy.

Program Outcomes (PO's)

PO1 Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics. Science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.
PO2 Problem analysis: Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems using codified methods.
PO3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
PO4 Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing : Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
PO5 Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment: Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
PO6 Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
PO7 Life-long learning: Ability to analyze individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSO’s)

PSO1 The students will be able to apply necessary concepts in core areas of mechanical engineering.
PSO2 The students will be able to develop & optimize solutions in computer aided drawing & manufacturing platforms.
PSO3 The students will gain team spirit for working in a variety of manufacturing industries, Automobile & power sectors as well as pursuing higher studies for contribution to research & development.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO's)

PEO1 To apply technical knowledge and management principles in analyzing and planning problems in the field of civil engineering, while ensuring maximization of economic benefits to society and minimization of damage to ecology and environment
PEO2 To be lifelong learners with spirit of enquiry and zeal to acquire new knowledge and skills so as to remain contemporary and possess required professional skills.
PEO3 To enhance entrepreneurial, communication and other soft skills, which will enable them to work as leaders, team members and contribute to nation building for the betterment of the society.
PEO4 To make them strongly committed to the highest levels of professional ethics and focus on ensuring quality, adherence to public policy and law, safety, reliability and environmental sustainability in all their professional activities
